Default Another freakin' wish list

My Guild Wars Wish List

DISCLAIMER

I'm no GW guru - maybe some of these features exist and I don't know it. Educate me if I've missed something.

BUG FIXES

- Fix the 'teleporting characters' problem. I hate seeing characters, especially my own, jumping around the screen when they run into something (usually other characters).

- Sometimes with my Warrior I hit C-space in order to attack. Sometimes, my character teleports directly on top of the target, and more importantly, DOESN'T start attacking.

PARTY WINDOW

- You've given us a health indicator for each party member; how about an energy indicator too?

- Hovering over a character's status indicator in the party window (the up/down arrow) should provide a tooltip listing the conditions/enchantments/hexes/whatever currently affecting that character). Being able to Remove Condition isn't as useful if the character is currently suffering a hex.

PARTY MANAGEMENT

- The group leader should be able to:
- Kick players during missions (any drops assigned to the player should disappear from the quest, but can be grabbed by the kicked player back in town - this would prevent kicking in order to grab loot). Perhaps require a concensus from the rest of the party before the action is allowed.

- Indicate which players may draw on the minimap. Leaders must be able to change this setting at will.

- Indicate which players may ping the minimap. Leaders must be able to change this setting at will.

- Indicate which players may call targets. Leaders must be able to change this setting at will.

- Abdicate in favor of another character.
- If the party is not full, the leader should have the option to pull in henchmen at any time to fill voids. It _really_ sucks to be near the end of a 2+ hour mission or quest, only to have your monk drop.

- On the subject of drops, allow disconnected players to rejoin a party within a reasonable time frame.

- The party leader should be able to call a party vote, so he can pose a question to the group and see everyone's response in a separate window. The leader can specify whether responses are restricted to yes/no or short freeform. This should work both in town and on quests (in town to enable the leader to determine whether the group is ready).

MINIMAP

- How about a tooltip-like popup that tells you who a particular green dot is, if you hover the mouse over it.

- Each character in the group should have a different, identifiable color when drawing/pinging on the minimap.

LEVEL BAR

- If I hover the mouse over it, give me the same info you'd give me if I hovered over the level bar in the Hero dialog.

QUEST LOG

- How about another tab to list all quests that we've completed.

TOWNS

- If you see a character's name somewhere on the screen, you should be able to invoke any of the following operations on that name:
- Add to party
- Whisper
- Run to
- Trade
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it seems like I spend too much time asking people where they are and typing names - and the names some people choose.... If I can see their name _anywhere_ (chat window, target bar, or by hovering the mouse over the avatar), I should be able to do any of the above, without typing their name.

- Create an auction house somewhere. Please.

FRIENDS

- Include classes and levels in the lists.

- Allow me to attach brief notes to each entry. I'd like to be able to note why I added this person.

GAMEPLAY

- You've given us the ability to have multiple weapon sets. How about multiple skill bar sets? I'd love to predefine four skill bars for my Elementalist for each of the four elements, so that I can easily switch between them in town before going on a mission. Going through the skills dialog is a real pain for a full rebuild. Might as well include attribute level sets too, I suppose, tied to each skill set (although reassigning attribute levels is much less of a pain).

- It would be nice to have greater control over the actions of henchmen. As it is, it's almost impossible to use them in a situation where you need to pull a mob, since they'll happily run in once you start the pull. Even a simple "wait here" command that you could issue to each henchman would be a vast improvement (where "wait here" would end if an opponent entered their awareness circle or they were attacked, and if you manually end "wait here", the henchies would run to you).

- If your character dies and the party contains henchies, it would be nice to have the option of taking over a henchman. It really sucks to watch your henchie monk stand around and get killed when you could have run them away.

- If I'm allowed to spend new attribute points during a mission, you might as well allow me to fully redistribute points at the same time (right now you can't reassign existing points). Since we can't change the skill bar during missions, we're not going to be doing full rebuilds anyway - we're just going to be tweaking (usually lowering something one or two levels in order to get enough points to raise something else one level).

- Players should be able to set a toggle for "automatically attack with my ready weapon if an enemy enters my awareness circle." This would allow us to run to the bathroom without worrying that our characters would quietly allow themselves to be killed while we were away for a moment.

- If I hover over a skill in my skill bar, the popup gives me the energy cost and description, but not the recharge time, casting time, or adrenaline cost. Give us all the details!

- If a character is spamming identical Ctrl announcements ("I'm Dead!"), suppress the repeats. You do this now for the Chat dialog; do it here too.

- If a character drops from a party, give an indicator why (used map to teleport; exited program; dropped for unknown reasons, such as lag).

CHARACTERS

- Allow us to alter any of our initial decisions with regards to name or appearance at any point in the game. I know it says in the support section of the website that names can't be changed - this is a wish list, remember?

- It would be pretty cool to have an optional visual indicator that a character has Ascended. Burning eyes, or a subtle halo effect? Or how about several possible effects, from which the player can choose upon Ascension (including having no visual indicator, of course).

- When I'm selecting a character to play from my four, show me the classes and level. In fact, show me the avatar as it would appear in play (headgear + weapons). Allow me to rotate it, so I can show it off to my friends.

EQUIPMENT

- Allow all weapon types to have upgrades. Shields, too.

LEVELS AND SKILLS (I don't expect to get these, but it never hurts to ask)

- I'd love to have more skills - how about 10 (using the 9 and 0 keys)? And two elites in play at once!

- I'll admit it; I'd like to be able to advance higher than level 20. We see NPCs with higher levels - why can't we get there ourselves? Aren't we the heros of the story, after all?

Thanks for reading all this.

I agree with a few of these things. However your ideas for the minimap seem somewhat unneeded. As for character teleportation to an enemy or otherwise, I find if you start walking (like with W) you show up where you actually are. You don't immediately attack them because you aren't actually next to the enemy that you set out to attack.

As for your intown idea about adding to a party, whispering, etc. a person, you can already do that. Just click on their name and hit +. If you can't find them then copy paste their name from their whisper or from their comment in the All tab or whatever. Paste that into the party window. You can use that to run to them as well and once you have them selected, you can trade.

I don't see the point of an auction house- there's a trade tab so use it.

I agree with your idea of the spamming of "I'm dead!" and such though. That gets to be a real pain.

Not all weapons should or need upgrades. Shield upgrades... that doesn't make sense I was thinkign about it the other day actually and there is no real way to implement that.

I agree with just about all of this.

We need a PvE 'rank' emote to cover things like ascention, infusion, game completion, experience gained, etc.

Upgrades for one handed items, yes! It allows customization without overpowering items.

Auction house: yea, badly needed. the Trade tab is swamped, and unuseable.

If the pve get a 'rank' emote, then the pvp players should be allowed to unlock FoW/15k armor/black/silver dyes...same cost in gold as faction (after everything is factored in). That way no one side (PvP vs. PvE) could bitch that the other had more "cool" stuff then them...

And 20 is the level cap to keep it even for pvp..a level cap should, and will stay..if they up the cap in expansions is yet to be seen though. I will say that it would be cool to see how many times you have made a new level, no effects, just a count in the hero tab.

I really like the idea that team leader selects who can draw and ping map and can call targets.
That would help organize much choas.

Funny - of all my suggestions, having the party leader have control over minimap usage is the one I'd like the most. I'm getting pretty sick of scribblers (ESPECIALLY when they're dead and everyone else is fighting), and I really don't care HOW fast someone can draw a penis.

Or are you talking about the suggestions for color/tooltips? I can explain why I'd like each of them:

Tooltips: if the party gets seperated, I'd like to quickly determine who went where. Did one monk go with each group? Where's the ele? I can click on each name in turn to highlight them, but that has proven impractical when I'm trying to run/fight at the same time.

Color: if the party leader allows everyone to ping/draw on the minimap, I'd like to know who is doing what. Is it the leader pinging/drawing, or is it the jerk who spams their current level 68 times? 'Cause I sure know who I'm going to pay attention to and who I'm going to ignore.

I can understand the bit about not attacking because I'm on top of them (since the program detects that I'm not next to the target). However, I don't understand how my character jumping around the screen without crossing the intervening space is anything other than a bug (as is being on top of another avatar, since the two shouldn't be able to occupy the same space at the same time).

Here I hang my head in shame - I never thought of cutting and pasting into the party window. However, you can only use the Run To feature for people who are actually in your party; if they're just in the Invite textbox, you can't double-click the name to run to them. I don't especially want to add every trade partner to my party, even if they would accept.

If only EVERYONE would use it. And more to the point, the trade tab allows hawking, not auctioning. It's very difficult to bid on items, to see what's currently available, etc. I'd like somewhere where I could effectively go shopping - browse available items, bid, etc.

Heck, an auction house could even work like an ebay reseller - I drop off my item for sale, the program auctions it off to the highest bidder (complete with reserve, if I want), skims a bit off the top, and gives me the gold. That way I get something for the item (less the surcharge), I don't waste gaming time trying to sell my junk, and somebody else gets the item they want. That way, if some people actually enjoy Trade Wars, they can continue to use the trade channel. I'd happily accept a sizeable surcharge if that meant I didn't have to spend time selling stuff.

Not sure what you mean about no way to implement it - we have upgrades for other things, we can find shields with attributes other than armor, so why can't they have upgrades?

I do think the upgrades for one-handed weapons should be weaker than those available for staves - after all, you need some advantage to make a two-handed weapon a viable choice instead of always going for two one-handed items.

An auction house would be cool, as for now I just wait till I get a few things and then post on a message board...it should have been implemented in game.

I'd like to see WTS Trade chat, and WTB trade chats - both different colors. I think it'll make Lions Arch a tad easier to cope with until we get an auction house kinda deal.

Well I mean if you can find someone or have their name selected, hit space and it will "Do" them. Needless to say there's been a lot of um... playing around with that terminology.

Now that you've explained the minimap thing, it makes more sense and I do agree considerably more.

The shield thing... that was the "rushed" part of the title. By implement, I mean there's no real way to upgrade a shield. Put spikes on it? Well... that wouldn't make much sense. How would you put it on? Screw them in? That'd weaken the shield. I suppose you could have coverings but that seems just odd... I suppose you could put runes on them. Except the runes would have to be aimed towards defense or something. Anyway, this was semi rushed too, I'll come back. I didn't mean to insult you or your ideas or anything, it was just an opinionated critique.

I don't have anybody on my friends list because I'm a loser but is there a way to teleport to somebody that is on your friends list? If not it would be a pretty cool feature. You can only teleport into towns/outposts/cities that you have been to, and the person you are teleporting to must accept your request. To prevent abuse people can setup either a blacklist or whitelist. A blacklist prevents people on it from even asking a person if they can teleport to them so they can't spam a person with teleport requests. A whitelist requires a person to be on the list before they can send requests.

Bug Fix:
Fix the chat box going to default every time I load an area! It's been this way since beta.

I would like to see most of that included in gameplay.

A suggestion of mine is to be able to create your own pvp build templates. So you can quickly delete your old pvp character and remake another build of yours on the fly. Be able to save everything in it: Armor, runes in the armor, weapons, upgrades on weapons, skills, and attribute points. Everything but the name that is.

/signed Very nice wish list xD I would love for these to be put into guild wars. Would be nice if they would have a sort of glow for ascended characters (where it was purely optional, just to show off), kind of like on Diablo 2, where you had the completed Tal Rasha's set (if anyone even remembers that...).
